Basic Web Content Needs to be Professional Quality to do Its Job

New entrepreneurs have a bevy of problems. The most pressing is often the need to not look like a new entrepreneur.

New entrepreneurs, especially those starting a side-hustle, tend to want to do everything themselves because time is a more abundant resource than money. That’s a perfectly reasonable impulse, but there are a few areas where it’s an impulse you’re going to want to reject.

Copywriting is just such an area.

The words on your site serve a business purpose. You need to have properly-spelled words grouped into grammatically correct sentences and thematically coherent paragraphs.

It’s necessary.

But it’s not sufficient.

If you do it yourself—or hire someone from one of those content mills—you’re probably going to get words, sentences, and paragraphs that would pass muster in an English class.

You’re not in an English class. You’re in business. If the pretty words don’t support your business goals, they aren’t worth the time it took to write them.

Your business goals are simple. Attract an audience. Develop an affinity with them. Demonstrate your authority. Convert them into paying customers.

I’m a Copyblogger Certified Content Marketer, which means I’ve learned how to put words together in ways that promote these goals. I’ve demonstrated my abilities to the premiere Content Marketing Educators on the internet, and they’ve vouched for me.

Chances are, you don’t have the money to hire me for a full-on Content Marketing campaign complete with a strategy, all your basic web content, multiple landing pages, and weekly blog posts. I get it. That’s a big investment for a side-hustle.

That’s why I’ve identified three key pieces of web content—your Home Page, About Page, and E-Mail Opt-In Page—and decided to offer them at a discount. I can do that for two reasons. They serve simple goals, and I can do a professional job with some relatively basic information.

If you’re putting together a business, you’re probably thinking about what to do, why you’re doing it, and who your ideal customers are. I’ll take that information and turn it into copy that will make you look like the pro you are.
